Why This Blog?

Maybe I should explain a little further here. On my birthday in June of 2001, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Then during the latter part of January of 2005, I was diagnosed as having had a stroke. There went my electrical contracting business, especially with my balance issues. No more climbing ladders, walking along ceiling joists or the like.

After forty-five years of working as an architectural designer, a handyman and lastly an electrician, and thoroughly enjoying my work, this put me into deep bouts of depression. With nothing but time on my hands, I looked for ways to pass it more enjoyably. Thus I tried different hobbies here and there and a few years later, still do practice most of them. Currently these hobbies include; bike trike-riding, building dollhouses and miniatures for them, guns and target shooting, home repair and remodeling (but only from ground level, no ladders), loom knitting, photography, scroll sawing, sewing and writing.

A number of examples of my writings are actually of my experiences relating to the aforementioned illnesses. I wrote them as short stories mostly, just “to get it out of my system” so I could get on with my life. And now, a new hobby, involving writing by way of this blog. I hope it will bring to light some tidbits of information that will be of use to other individuals with these diseases and/or hobbies. Thank you for taking your time in reading this material. If it helps, please leave a comment. I look forward to hearing from you!
